Farnaz was taught the value of democracy at a very young age by her parents. While at York University, she campaigned on campus for provincial electoral reform during the 2007 referendum. While at Carleton University, her Masters dissertation focused on the civic and social participation of first generation Canadians. Farnaz also worked in the community sector and coordinated for the Scarborough Civic Action Network, where she educated youth, newcomers, and underserved populations on civic issues and helped local residents build grassroots organizations and civic agency to improve their communities. When she’s not thinking up funny puns about electoral reform, Farnaz also advocates for the co-operative housing sector.
