Colum’s interest in voting reform began in 2005 in British Columbia following the rejection of voting reform in a referendum, despite the “Yes” side winning almost 58% of the vote.  Colum has previously led a number of organizations and campaigns, including making the Bronson Avenue bridge safer for cyclists and pedestrians in 2012.  Colum holds a Master’s Degree in International Affairs from the Norman Patterson School of International Affairs at Carleton University, and wrote his major research paper on democracy.  He has lived and worked in Ireland, Scotland and Finland (countries with far better electoral systems than ones in Canada) and has travelled extensively around the globe.  Colum has lived in Ottawa since 2010, is proudly non-partisan and works as a policy advisor.
